IS GRAND LODGE MOVING?

The August 7th edition of the Columbus dispatch reported that reported that a 12-member advisory board was to meet that Saturday to discuss a move of The Grand Lodge to the Masonic Center in Dayton. No reports to date as to how this meeting went or what was decided. The council's decision would help guide a final statewide vote in October.

MWB Michael Watson was quoted as saying that declining membership and the economic downturn are forcing this consideration. The move would save about half of the current $100,000.00 a year in operating and maintenance costs.

The Grand Lodge moved to its present stately facility on High Street from Cincinnati in the 1950's. If the Grand Lodge does move, ownership of the existing building would transfer to New England Lodge No. 4 according to the report.
